Many events took place this weekend, but not the arrival of our newest addition unfortunately. Filled with many surprises and new experiences, I have so much to share!

On Friday (September 14th), also my dad’s birthday, my son Sebastian had his first soccer practice. I started the day off taking my son to the mall early in the morning to find new tennis shoes because the ones he had were to small. I usually only put him in sandals because he has such sweaty feet (thanks to hubby). I found the cutest pair of Converse at Nordstrom on sale! Wasn’t my first choice, but had to get them. We also had to get a gift for a friend of ours daughter who turned nine on Sunday, but was having her party Saturday night. I was probably there three hours, not only shopping, but trying to “walk baby out.” Later that evening, Nick came home after work and we quickly headed to soccer. I kept amping him up about it all day and he was so excited. He is doing it with two other buddies of his and it’s mandatory for one parent to participate and guide their child throughout the hour. Once we arrived he just couldn’t stop running around and picking up the ball, putting it in front of the net, and kicking it in the goal. He would then proceed to yell “goal!”

My sister, who now goes to FAU in Boca Raton, FL, surprised my dad by coming home this weekend for his birthday Friday night. Since we couldn’t make it, Sebastian and I headed down to Sarasota to hangout with them for the day before heading back to Tampa for our friend’s birthday party.

After I had dinner with my family, I headed back up to Tampa. Nick had been busy all day coaching two youth travel hockey games in Clearwater and running errands (cleaning mold off our new stroller – long story) that had to be done. We planned on meeting at our friends house for the birthday party. When Sebastian and I arrived, Nick was already there waiting for us. As soon as I got out of the car, he had the biggest smile on his face and said, “I have a surprise for you.” I was very hesitant to ask what it was, when he then said he had gotten us tickets to the Dierks Bentley concert that night and that our friends would watch Sebastian for the duration of the concert.

Nick and I had been seeing Dierks Bentley since we moved to Florida three years ago. Our relationship was somewhat built off country music when we first met back in Michigan, and we had always loved Dierks. We had been talking about this concert all summer long and would jokingly say we were going, but realized it was probably unlikely since it fell so close to my due date (September 17th). I actually went to my first concert of his maybe six months pregnant with my son.

At first I was like so not about it, but then after a little while during the party I decided it’d be fun and an experience I’d be able to tell my kids about one day. So we were off. As we left the house and walked to the car, Nick started making a video and I thought it was for Snapchat, but then he started asking me questions and then passed our car and walked down the street to a different one. I was so confused until I saw it’s license plate and realized he had gotten a new car!

For those of you that don’t know, which is pretty much all of you, Nick has been driving a pretty old Volvo since the day I met him. We call it the “Swedish Ferrari.” Of course, I didn’t care what kind of car he drove a few years ago, but this past year it’s become a problem. It’s air conditioning was never strong, but went out this past spring for good. Once Sebastian was born I never put him in there anyways because it was to hot. With another little one on the way, we were talking about getting a new one anyways. Then, after the air conditioning went out, Nick couldn’t take sweating his ass off everyday to work anymore. Last week, the “Swedish Ferrari” finally took it’s last ride as it broke down on the side of the road. We really didn’t want to put any money into it, Nick’s plan was to just drive it until it died.

All week last week I had been kind of annoying about him getting a new car because I was stuck at home with a two year old all day, and there’s only so much you can do. I eventually backed off though when he sat down with someone and checked some out. I was in total shock and disbelief to be looking at not only the car we had been talking about(2016 Toyota Highlander), but just how nice it was.

I can’t even begin to express how lucky I am to have a man like Nick in my life. He goes above and beyond, and always finds a way to take care of me and our little family. I truly don’t know what I would do without him.

Two surprises in one day! I was floored and feeling very thankful and blessed to say the least. We had an awesome time at the concert, despite my exceptionally swollen feet and hands…

Sunday I spent most of the day relaxing and and cleaning (of course). While Nick hung out with Sebastian and worked a little bit. Actually I take that back, he’s putting a dresser/changing table together as we speak for baby, so workeda lot .

I hope you all had a great weekend! Until next time…

Sincerely,

YYM
